Man charged with killing ex-girlfriend, shooting 2 others

COLUMBUS – Columbus police arrested a man accused of a triple shooting on the Northeast Side early Wednesday morning that left his ex-girlfriend dead and two other people injured, one of them critically.

Leo Sanford, Jr., has been charged with murder in the death of Tiarra Seals, 22, who was shot in the 1800 block of Argyle Drive just after 4:30 a.m., along with a man and a woman, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.

As officers were responding to the reported shooting, the three victims walked into Ohio State University Medical Center East, where Seals died a few minutes later, Strayer said.

Dreamma Montgomery, 41, was taken to OSU Medical Center on the university campus where she was listed in critical condition while Dwayne Madison, Sr., 58, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released, Strayer said.

Investigators determined that Sanford, whose home address was on Livingston Avenue, had once been in a relationship with Seals and Strayer says he was arrested late Thursday morning without incident by SWAT officers at an address on Fountainview Court where he had been hiding.

The investigation continues.

This is the 94th homicide in Columbus in 2018.
