Nathan Cortez Jenkins, 26, has been charged with murder and aggravated robbery after Chasmine Richardson died at Grant Medical Center Saturday of injuries she suffered when she was allegedly shot several times by Jenkins during a robbery in the Olde Towne East neighborhood on Jan. 12, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit.
Richardson was found lying in the road next to a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, in the 300 block of Loeffler Avenue shortly after 10:00 p.m., Strayer said.
The preliminary investigation indicated Richardson and Jenkins were acquainted and that the shooting was the result of a failed robbery attempt, Strayer said.
This is the 12th homicide in Columbus in 2019.
