COLUMBUS – A Northeast Side man who allegedly attacked his roommate with a large knife or machete was facing a murder charge, the result of one of two homicides Columbus police were investigating Thursday morning.

Officers and fire personnel dispatched on a reported stabbing at an apartment on Berryleaf Grove at approximately 11:29 a.m. Omar Alston inside another apartment suffering from multiple stab wounds, Homicide Unit Sgt. Dave Sicilian said.
Alston died at Riverside Medical Center at approximately 3:30 p.m., Sicilian said.
Sicilian says Alston, 31, was attacked for an unknown reason by his roommate, David Morrison, 24, who was wielding a knife or machete and stabbed Alston.
The investigation continues.
At approximately 7:58 a.m. officers and medics were dispatched to 1893 Oakland Park Avenue on a report of a body that was lying near the side of a building, Sicilian said.
They found Patricia Alexander, 35, and determined she was the victim of a homicide, Sicilian said.
There was no information released on suspects or a motive. The investigation continues, Sicilian said.
