COLUMBUS – A 22-year-old man is facing a felony charge of assault on a police officer after allegedly shooting a Columbus officer in the foot during a drug raid in South Linden Friday afternoon.
Dennis Earl Green is accused of being the man who shot Officer Robert Lagore who was among a group of Narcotics Bureau officers trying to enter a home in the 1500 block of Cordell Avenue, Division of Police spokesman Sgt. Dean Worthington said.
Lagore is expected to fully recover, Worthington said.
Shortly after the officers entered the home at about 12:55 p.m., Worthington says Green fired multiple shots, one of them hitting Lagore in the foot. Lagore was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
Officers did not return fire and detained Green and four other people inside the home for questioning.
