COLUMBUS – A 17-year-old boy is dead and another was hurt in separate shootings on the East Side early Wednesday morning.
Officers called to a home in the 1200 block of Dellwood Avenue on the report of a shooting shortly after 1:00 a.m. found Jordan Moore, 17, critically injured from an apparent gunshot wound, according to Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer.
Moore was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 2:27 AM.
Investigators charged Malik Whatley, 19, with murder in connection with Moore’s death, Strayer said.
This was the 89th Homicide in Columbus in 2015.
Police say Davonn Garnes was leaving the O Lounge, 1532 N. Cassidy Avenue, at 3:21 a.m. when someone in a silver vehicle fired three shots out the window as the vehicle drove by, hitting Garnes, 26, in his groin and buttock.
He is expected to recover.
