COLUMBUS – Police have not released any motive or suspects in the death of a man gunned down in a convenience store parking lot on the South Side Friday night.
Officers called to Brothers Food Mart at 1776 Parsons Avenue on a report of a shooting at 9:51 p.m. found Charles Eugene Staten unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the homicide unit.
Staten, 38, was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m., Strayer said.
This is the 33rd homicide in Columbus in 2017.
