COLUMBUS – A man who died four days after being choked by a telephone cord in a Northeast Side motel room has become the 60th homicide victim of 20-18 in Columbus.

Marshall Williams was found unresponsive and lying partially on the bed with a phone cord wrapped several times around his neck at the Super 8 Motel, 1078 E. Dublin Granville Road, at 4:32 a.m. Sunday morning and was taken to St. Ann’s Hospital, said Homicide Unit third shift supervisor Sgt. Jeff Strayer.
Williams, 35, was in critical condition until he was pronounced dead by attending physicians at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Strayer said.
Adea Lejuene Williams, 37, was initially charged with felonious assault but Strayer says the charges have been upgraded to murder.
Adea Williams admitted to wrapping the cord around Marshall Wialliams’ neck, said Strayer. She remains in the Franklin County jail awaiting arraignment.
Police say the two had been in a relationship. Investigators are trying to determine a motive.
