Man dies after driving away from shooting scene

COLUMBUS – Police say a man who crashed his car into a parked vehicle and a brick wall on the East Side Thursday afternoon was driving away from the location where he had been shot and fatally wounded.

UPDATE 11/12/18 7:14 a.m.: The victim in this incident has been identified as Dwayne Lamont Madison, 42.

The man was found in the 900 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue at 5:44 p.m. by officers responding to received multiple reports of a shooting, said Sgt. Stanley Latta of the Homicide Unit.

Investigators believe he was shot on nearby Seemic Circle and drove away southbound before crashing his vehicle, Latta said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus paramedics.

Police had no known suspects or motives and the investigation is continuing, Latta said.

This is the 92nd homicide of 2018 in Columbus.
