COLUMBUS – One man is dead and another injured after a shooting on the East Side early Monday morning.
UPDATE: This article has been edited from an earlier version to include the name of the homicide victim.
A caller contacting Columbus police at approximately 1:05 a.m. said someone had been shot trying to enter a home in the 2200 block of Ridgeway Avenue, Sgt. Stanley Latta of the homicide unit.
When officers arrived they discovered Damecco Daquan Jonnel Charles, who had been shot inside the home and died as a result of his injuries at the scene, Latta said.
A second man, whose name was not released, was transported to Grant Medical Center with serious injuries, Latta said.
