Man dies in double shooting

COLUMBUS – One man was killed and another hospitalized as a result of a double shooting on the Southeast Side early Tuesday.

Columbus Homicide Unit detectives say, at approximately 3:34 a.m., two black males entered a home at 815 S. 22nd Street and shot Waki Malik Bryant and Edward Jamal Miller.

Both men were transported to Grant Medical Center where Bryant, 18, died and Miller, 26, was listed in stable condition, police said.

This is the 49th homicide of the year in Columbus.

Police said witnesses described on suspect as a black male with dreadlocks, approximately 5’5” tall, wearing a white T-shirt, tan pants black and white shoes and a ski mask.

The second suspect had facial hair containing gray patches, approximately 6’2”, wearing a green jacket, blue jeans and black hat.

Meanwhile, a South Side man is in jail on charges he shot a man to death during a fight on a street corner on May 31.

Reginald DeJarnett Jr., 22, turned himself in at police headquarters Tuesday and was taken to the Franklin County Jail on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Jeffrey Devin Long, 26, at the intersection of Greenlawn Avenue and S. High Street early on May 31, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.
