COLUMBUS – Police say a man died when gunfire broke out inside a West Side home last night.
Several people were inside the home on Columbian Avenue at 8:32 p.m. when a caller told a police dispatcher that someone was breaking in, according to Homicide Unit investigators.
During the call, the dispatcher heard gunshots over the phone.
When officers arrived, they found David Lee Hodge, 35, inside the home. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:22 p.m., police said.
At this time police have no motive or suspects.
This is the 79th homicide of the year in Columbus.
