COLUMBUS — Police say a man was shot and killed during a drug investigation on the Hilltop.
UPDATE 10/16/18 4:41 p.m.: The name of the man who was shot has been corrected from an earlier edition following the release of new information by authorities.
The shooting happened Monday morning in the 400 block of S. Wayne Avenue and involved a Franklin County Sheriff’s detective, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
Baldwin said officers had come to the house at approximately 11:40 a.m. as part of an undercover drug investigation.
Hustes Davila, 58, was shot in the upper body by the detective and pronounced dead at the scene by responding medics, Baldwin said.
No officers were injured.
The state Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been called in to help.
