COLUMBUS – Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found in a shallow grave on the West Side Thursday as suspicious.
A man walked into police headquarters at 1:04 p.m. and told officers that he knew the location of a dead person, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.
The man took officers to a wooded area north of the intersection of N. Skidmore Street and Scott Street in Franklinton, where Shimberg says officers were able to locate an unidentified man in a shallow grave.
Investigators are iterating the incident as a suspicious death until additional information is obtained, Shimberg said.
The man’s name and other information will be released once a positive identification and the man’s family is notified, Shimberg said
