COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police are investigating the death of a man who was found fatally shot in a vehicle in a fast-food restaurant parking lot on the East Side Thursday afternoon.
Officers responding to a 911 call reporting that a passenger in a vehicle had been shot at the intersection of James Road and E. Broad Street just before 3:00 p.m. found Shane Collins Jr. in the parking lot of a Rally’s restaurant, police said.
Collins, 21, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at a hospital.
Investigators determined that he had actually been shot in the area of Steltzer and Johnstown Roads, more than a mile north of where he was found, detectives said.
This is the 25th homicide of 2015 in Columbus Ohio.
