COLUMBUS – A 56-year-old man in a wheelchair who was trying to cross a road on the Southwest Side Monday night was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver.
UPDATE 4/22/20 7:17 a.m.: A suspect has been identified after a deputy saw the vehicle involved in this incident pull into a Sunoco gas station at Harrisburg Pike and Clime Road at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The man was crossing Harrisburg Pike, just south of Big Tree Drive in Franklin Township at approximately 10:25 p.m. when witnesses told Franklin County sheriff’s deputies that a blue or purple SUV traveling southbound on Harrisburg Pike hit the man.
The SUV driver did not stop and continued traveling southbound as a witness called 911, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin, was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The accident remains under investigation.
