COLUMBUS – A 31-year-old man is in critical condition after a shootout with Columbus police officers Monday night in North linden.

Multiple callers to Columbus police at approximately 9:48 p.m. reported a man firing shots involving an ex-girlfriend in the 1800 block of Oakland Park Avenue, Division of Police spokesman Sgt. James Fuqua said.
When they arrived, Fuqua says the man was in the street in front of a home and had a handgun.
When officers confronted him, the man fired multiple rounds and three officers also fired shots.
UPDATE: 4/29/20 8:18 a.m.: The officers involved in this incident have been identified as Ofc. Glen Spiekerman, an eight-year veteran with the Division of Police; Ofc. Errich Taylor, a seven-year veteran, and Ofc. Ross Sturgeon, a one-year veteran.
No officers were shot or injured, but some homes and vehicles were struck by bullets.
The suspect’s name has not been released because Fuqua says he has not been charged, though charges are expected. He remains hospitalized.
The gun was recovered at the scene.
The investigation by the Critical Incident Response Team and the Crime Scene Search Unit is ongoing, Fuqua said.
