Man is 5th homicide victim this month

COLUMBUS – A violent week continued in Columbus, with the third fatal shooting in as many days claiming the life of a 64-year-old man in North Linden early Thursday morning.

The man, whose name was not released, was found by police officers inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 1800 block of Oakland Park Avenue at 5:53 a.m., Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Columbus homicide unit said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation has determined that two unidentified male black suspects who may have been involved had fled the scene, Pilya said.

This is the 42nd homicide of the year in Columbus.

Six people have been shot in Columbus in the last five days.
