COLUMBUS – Police say they have a person of interest but have not made any arrests in the slaying of a man during a home invasion on the East Side early Friday.
Kelvin Lee Porter, 54, was found lying in the driveway of the home at 580 South Napoleon Avenue by Columbus police officers responding to a reported home invasion and gunshots at approximately 1:18 a.m., said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide unit.
Porter was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:03 a.m., Strayer saied.
Strayer says Porter appears to have been the victim of a robbery but the investigation continues.
This is the 8th Homicide in Columbus in 2018.
