COLUMBUS – A Reynoldsburg man is in jail, charged with ramming a Columbus police cruiser and challenging the officers inside to “just kill me.”
The officers were traveling eastbound on E, Livingston Avenue in a marked cruiser at approximately 10:00 p.m. when Terry Colas approached their cruiser at a high rate of speed in the next lane and purposefully swerved, striking the lef rear quarter panel of the cruiser with his For Expedition, causing the cruiser to spin out of control, Det. Bob McCotter of the Felony Assault Unit said.
After striking the cruiser, Colas’ vehicle flipped and landed against a utility pole.
Colas, 20, got out of the vehicle, holding a long piece of wood in his hand, and yelled to the officers, “just kill me,” McCotter said.
One of the officers ordered Colas to drop the piece of wood, which he did, and was arrested without further incident, McCotter said.
The officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital and then released, McCotter said.
Colas was charged with two counts of felonious assault and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
