Man shoots wife, stepson, self

COLUMBUS – A man who shot his wife to death and critically wounded her teenage son before shooting himself has died.

UPDATE 10/02/19 6:23 a.m.: The suspect was pronounced deceased at 11:55 a.m. on Oct. 1. Detectives are still attempting to make next-of-kin notification.

The second victim is still in critical condition; however, it is believed that he will recover from his injuries. The investigation continues.

Police say the 64-year-old man, upset over a dispute with a neighbor, took his frustration out on his family, shooting his wife to death and wounding his 16-year-old stepson, according to investigators with the Columbus police Homicide Unit.

Officers responding to a reported shooting at a home in the 1500 block of Zettler Road at 5:06 p.m. found the three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three victims were taken to area hospitals in critical condition but Maria Terrones, 50, died at 6:25 p.m., police said.

The 16-year-old boy was taken into surgery and remained in critical condition Tuesday morning, police said.

The suspect, whose name was withheld by police until his family could be notified, was not expected to survive his injuries.

The investigation continues.

This is the 82nd homicide of the year in the Columbus.
