Man shot after argument

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No arrests had been made by Monday morning in the death of a 50-year-old man shot to death inside a vehicle in a Southeast Side alley Friday night.

UPDATE: Police filed an arrest warrant on a charge of murder for Andre Lavon Boozer, Jr, 35, on Aug. 13 in connection with this case. Boozer’s last known address was on Carpenter Street, a few blocks away from the scene of the shooting.

Officers responding to a shooting behind a home at 1056 Oakwood Avenue just before 10:00 p.m. found McKinley Watson suffering from a gunshot wound, Sgt. Christ J. Holzhauser of the Columbus Police Homicide Unit said.

Watson died shortly after arriving at a hospital, the 61st homicide victim of the year in Columbus.

Holzhauser says investigators believe Watson was shot inside the vehicle after an argument and that a male black suspect fled the scene just afterwards.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS.
