COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police were looking for a man they say shot another man during a bar fight on the East Side overnight.
Detectives say Nishaunte Richardson shot Jy Smart-El twice with a 9mm piston while Smart-El was trying to break up a fight outside of The Woods Bar, 2903 E. Fifth Avenue, just after 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Smart-El was taken to a home in the 1000 block of Seymour Avenue by a friend and medics were contacted. Smart-El, 34, taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Investigators say Richardson, 26, fled the scene and a warrant for his arrest was filed for one count of felonious assault.
