Man shot during domestic dispute

COLUMBUS – No charges had been filed early Tuesday in the shooting death of a man during an argument with his live-in girlfriend.

Officers and medics responding to a reported stabbing inside an apartment inside the Columbus Park complex on Winslow Drive, on the Southeast Side, at 4:19 p.m. Monday found Malyk Shelby bleeding and suffering from a gunshot wound, Homicide Unit Sgt. Dave Sicilian said.

Shelby, 22, died at Grant Medical Center less than an hour later, Sicilian said.

The dispute between Shelby and his 20-year-old girlfriend escalated to the point where the unidentified woman shot Shelby, Sicilian said.

The woman’s name was being withheld as the investigation continued, Sicilian said.

This is the 62nd homicide of the year in Columbus.
