COLUMBUS – Police have identified a man found shot to death in the backyard of a South Side home early Monday morning.

Officers were called to the 700 block of E. Mithoff Street just after 5:00 a.m. on a report of shots fired by a caller who told dispatchers that they believed someone had been shot in the backyard of their home, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer said..
Officers found Terence Smith, 37, in the backyard suffering from several gunshot wounds, Strayer said.
He was pronounced dead at the Scene.
Strayer says the investigation is continuing but did not name any suspects or motive for the shooting.
This is the year’s 86th homicide in Columbus
