COLUMBUS – Investigators are trying to unravel what happened inside a home on the Hilltop where a man was shot to death early Monday morning.
Officers responding to a reported shooting at the home on S. Terrace Avenue at 4:40 a.m. found Shawn McDaniel, 28, unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit.
McDaniel was pronounced dead at the scene, Strayer said.
Strayers says there were other people inside the home when the shooting took place and detectives are hoping to learn more about what transpired from their statements.
This is the 77th homicide in Columbus in 2016.
