COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police are searching for more clues in an apparent drive-by shooting that left a man dead on the Southeast Side late Wednesday night.
Nigel Rone was walking along Wager Street at approximately 10:29 p.m. when he was shot in the upper body, investigators said.
Patrol officers dispatched to the scene to investigate the shooting found Rone, 34, lying in the street in front of 867 Wager Street, police said. He was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center at 10:51 p.m.
Witnesses told police they heard a vehicle leave the scene immediately after the shooting but there was no information on suspects early Thursday and no known motive for the shooting.
This is the 83rd homicide of 2014 in Columbus.
