COLUMBUS – A man who was shot when he answered a knock on the door of his Hilltop apartment early Wednesday morning died a few hours later, the 93rd homicide victim of the year in Columbus.
Police are still looking for whoever knocked on Jabril Curry’s door at approximately 5:33 a.m. and shot him in the head when he answered, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
Officers were called to the apartment building at 2003 W. Broad Street on a report of a shooting inside the residence found Curry, 25, lying on the floor, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, Strayer said.
Columbus paramedics took Curry to Grant Medical Center where he was initially listed in extremely critical condition and was expected to survive died later in the day.
The initial investigation indicated that, when Curry answered the knock at the front door, an unidentified gunman fired at him and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect, or suspects, are still at large, Strayer said.
The investigation continues.
