Man, woman shot in crashed vehicle

COLUMBUS – A man was found shot to death inside a vehicle that crashed in North Linden early Wednesday morning, police said.

Patrol officers alerted by ShotSpotter technology and 911 calls responded to a report that multiple gunshots had been fired in the area of Loretta Avenue and Bremen Street at 5:24 a.m. found a man and a woman inside a vehicle that had struck a utility pole, said Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit.

Shaulette Drain, 39, was transported to a hospital in stable condition and Shimberg says she is expected to recover from her injuries.

The man, identified as Christopher A.R. Santiago, 29, was pronounced at the scene at 5:34 a.m.

Multiple shell casings were recovered from this incident, Shimberg said.

Police did not say which of the two victims was driving the vehicle.

This is the ninth homicide of the year in Columbus.
