Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call of a dead person outside the Playa Larga Mexican Restaurant on S. Murray Hill Road in Prairie Township at approximately 6:35 a.m. found Ossgual Yarel Martinez Banda suffering from two gunshot wounds in his upper body, Sheriff Zach Scott said. He was pronounced deceased by medics at the scene.

Scott says detectives discovered evidence at the scene that indicated the shooting had occurred inside the restaurant and they linked it to the manager, Sergio Benitez Sanchez, who was an acquaintance of Banda, Scott said.

Investigators determined that the two had argued over money owed to Banda’s girlfriend after the restaurant closed and that was when the shooting happened, Scott said.

Deputies arrested Sanchez, 42, on Sunday and charged him with murder, Scott says.

Sanchez is being held in the Franklin County Jail.
