Man’s body found in van in NE Side alley

COLUMBUS – Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found in a van in a North Linden alley as a homicide despite the absence of evidence of foul play.

Officers found the body of Danny Parker Jr. in the white van in the alley behind 2494 Pontiac Street at 7:35 p.m. Monday, said Homicide Unit third shift supervisor Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer.

The officers has been called to investigate a report of a body inside the vehicle and found Parker, 30, who had been dead for some time, Strayer said. He was officially pronounced dead by Columbus Division of Fire paramedics at the scene.

There were no witnesses and Strayer says Parker had no apparent injuries but, although the circumstances surrounding his death appeared suspicious, there was no indication f any foul play.

The investigation continues.
