NEWARK – Police have identified the person whose body was found in Raccoon Creek Wednesday but have not determined how Rodney Blankenship died.
Blankenship, 55, was found just south of the bike path near N. 21st Street and State Route 16 by some teens who notified authorities at about 6:00 p.m., Division of Police spokesman Sgt. Clint Eskins said.
The Licking County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and found no obvious signs of trauma but were not able to determine a cause of death, according to a report in the The Columbus Dispatch.
Investigators are asking anyone who knew Blankenship and may have had recent contact with him to call the Newark Police at 740-670-7200, Eskins said.
