MAPFRE Stadium to host World Cup qualifier

COLUMBUS – MAPFRE Stadium will play host to a FIFA World Cup qualifying match between the U.S. and Guatemala in March, the stadium announced Monday.

The U.S. Men’s National Team will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup home qualification match March 29 as part of CONCACAF semifinal qualifying for the World Cup. The match will be televised live on ESPN2 and UniMas. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.

The Group C contest against Guatemala will be the fourth of six matches for the U.S. in the four-team, double round-robin semifinal round.

The U.S. opened its qualification campaign on November 13 in St. Louisi with a 6-1 win over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, followed by a 0-0 draw against Trinidad and Tobago on November 17.

The U.S. resumes qualification at Guatemala on March 25.

The United States has never lost in Columbus, holding a record of 7-0-3 all-time, dating back to October 11, 2000.
