COLUMBUS – Chilly temperatures are in the forecast for more than 19,000 runners and walkers who will take part in the 36th Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon & ½ Marathon Sunday.

Saturday
10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – First-ever Jesse Owens Jog (J.O. Jog), a 2.62-mile fun run and walk honoring the Columbus native, Ohio State track star and Olympic legend. START– Columbus Urban League, 788 Mount Vernon Avenue. FINISH– North Bank Park, 311 Long Street. Featuring feature Mayor Coleman; Jesse Owens’ daughter Marlene Rankin; OSU President Michael Drake and Urban League President Stephanie Hightower
12:30 p.m. – Highlights Kids’ Run with an expected crowd of 1,000 kids. START- North Bank Park.

The ½ Marathon is sold out with 12,000 participants and there is limited space available for the full course, which has a capacity of 7,000.
This year marks the 10th year in which the event benefits the hospital. The race is the 16th largest marathon in the United States and one of the top marathons to qualify runners for the Boston Marathon. For more information, visit
“Patient Champions,” representing every child treated at Nationwide Children’s Hospital will line the course, including the “Encore Mile” and “Angel Mile,” the final two miles of the 26.2-mile course.
