Marion man accused of selling “blue drop” heroin

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A 32-year-old Marion man has been arrested, charged with dealing a particularly dangerous form of heroin.

Eric Creagh was charged in federal with one count of possession with intent to distribute “blue drop” heroin and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to Steven, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

“Blue drop” heroin is cut with fentanyl, a powerful painkiller and believed to be responsible for the deaths of two people and the hospitalizations more than 30 others in a 12-day stretch in the city.

A federal affidavit filed in the case claims Creagh sold a confidential informant more than 20 grams of “blue drop” heroin on five separate occasions between May 30 and June 8.

Creagh was arrested Wednesday after local and federal officials found lab equipment, drugs, guns and cash at two homes he owned, Dettelbach said.

Agents recovered two firearms, approximately one kilogram of a heroin/fentantyl mixture, blue fabric dye, a face mask with a filtration system and rubber gloves, two hydraulic presses and approximately $60,000 in cash.

According to the affidavit, investigators believe the lab equipment was used to dye the heroin blue and prepare if for sale on the street.

Creagh appeared in U.S. District Court in Toledo and was ordered detained.
