MBK: Buckeyes No. 11 in Midwest

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes are the No. 11 seed in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and will face No. 6 seed Iowa State Friday night in Tulsa.

Ohio State is making its 29th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Buckeyes and Cyclones last squared off in the third round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament, a 78-75 Ohio State victory in Dayton, Ohio.

Big Ten
The Big Ten Conference is sending eight teams to the NCAA Tournament, the most of any conference, a year after sending only four teams to the 68-team field.

Michigan State is the No. 2 seed in the East Regional after the Spartans won their sixth Big Ten Tournament championship.

Matt McQuaid scored a career-high 27 points, Big Ten Player of the Year Cassius Winston converted the go-ahead layup in the closing minute, and Michigan State rallied to beat Michigan 65-60 Sunday.

The Wolverines are the second-seeded team in the West.

Purdue is the No. 3 seed in the South Regional.

Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota and Wisconsin are also in the field, the largest Big Ten contingent ever.

Home Court
Ohio will host a number of early games as March Madness begins this week.

Dayton will host the First Four play-in games on Tuesday.

Nationwide Arena will be the site for first- round games in East and Midwest Regionals on Friday and second-round games on Sunday.

Accent on the ACC
Duke, Virginia, North Carolina and Gonzaga are the top seeds in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, marking the first time one conference – the Atlantic Coast Conference — has produced three No. 1 seeds.

Duke heads the East and is followed by Michigan State, LSU and Virginia Tech, while Gonzaga, Michigan, Texas Tech and Florida are the top four seeds in the West.

Virginia, Tennessee, Purdue and Kansas State are the highest seeds in the South, and North Carolina, Kentucky, Houston and Kansas head up the Midwest.
