Media allowed to watch Buckeye practice

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has opened part of its practice to the media for the first time since coach Urban Meyer was put on paid leave.

Media members were allowed to observe and photograph the first half hour of practice, but other coaches and players remained off-limits for interviews.

Meyer was put on paid leave last week amid questions about what he knew and did about accusations of abuse made against former assistant Zach Smith.

The university, in a release, also says the investigation into how Meyer handled the complaint is expected to completed within two weeks.

An outside firm has been hired to conduct the probe.

University president Dr. Michael Drake will have the final say on any action taken as a result.
