COLUMBUS – Former Buckeye receiver and seven-year NFL veteran Brian Hartline will be the team’s interim wide receivers coach, replacing Zach Smith, who was fired earlier this week, Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer announced Thursday.
Hartline is in his second year with the program after serving in a quality control position with the wide receivers last season.
In addition to naming Hartline, Meyer also elevated third-year program assistant Corey Dennis to a senior quality control position working with the wide receivers and quarterbacks.
Hartline played for Ohio State from 2005 through 2008 and was a part of teams that won four Big Ten championships and reached consecutive BCS National Championship games in 2006 and 2007. He also played in 104 games in the NFL with 344 career receptions for 4,766 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Dennis is a 2014 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in business administration and played in 54 games for Yellow Jacket teams that won two Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division titles and played in four bowl games.
