COLUMBUS – A man was found dead in the basement of a Southeast Side home Sunday afternoon, almost a week after he was reported missing, Columbus police said.
Officers called to the home in the 700 block of S. Champion Avenue shortly after 2:40 p.m. to investigate a report of dead person found Dametrious Edwads, 28, in the basement and confirmed he was dead, Sgt. Dave Sicilian of the Homicide Unit said.
Sicilian says detectives discovered that Edwards had been reported missing on Sept. 7.
The cause of death is not known late Sunday.
This is the 69th homicide of the year in Columbus.
