Missing, murdered women’s cases may be linked

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities near Chillicothe, in Ross County, are wondering if they have a multiple murderer on their hands.

A “primary person of interest” in the death of a woman whose body was found on a rural road Friday has been jailed on an unrelated charge and investigators are looking into whether there is a connection tying the murder of Timberly Claytor with the deaths or disappearances of four other women, according to a report on WBNS 10-TV.

“There’s a common thread in terms of the places that the victims frequented and some of the people they were associated with,” Ross County Prosecutor Matthew Schmidt (pictured above, right) said.

Sheriff’s deputies found Claytor, 38, lying among weeds off Massieville Road on Friday, shot three times in the head, Sheriff George Lavender (left) said.

After searching a vehicle tied to Claytor’s murder, Lavender said deputies arrested Jason Mccrary (right), 36, a registered sex offender who was charged with failing to register his change of address.

According to the TV report, Chillicothe Police Chief Keith Washburn (center) said local authorities have asked the FBI for assistance in solving the mysteries of three women who have been reported missing over the past several months and the death of a woman a year ago.
