COLUMBUS – Buckeyes Kelsey Mitchell and Stephanie Mavunga were both selected in the 2018 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever at the Nike New York Headquarters.
Mitchell was the No. 2 overall selection while Mavunga was the second pick in the second round, 14th overall. This is the first year that multiple Buckeyes have been selected in the draft.
Overall, Ohio State has now had 15 players drafted and at least one each of the last three seasons.
For both players, Indianapolis is close to home. Mitchell is from Cincinnati while Mavunga is from Brownsburg, Ind., about 20 minutes north of Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Mavunga ‘s sister-in-law, Jeanette Pohlen-Mavunga, is also on the roster.
Mitchell was Ohio State’s first four-time All-American. She finished her career second in NCAA history with 3,402 career points.
