Mom and teens charged in school fight

COLUMBUS – A woman is in jail and her daughter and goddaughter have been turned over to a relative after all three were involved in a lunchroom brawl at a Columbus high school Tuesday morning, during which the mother encouraged her daughter to fight another student and the other teen assaulted a school administrator.

According to a post on the Columbus Division of Police Twitter account, Roxxanne Craine took her daughter and goddaughter, both 17, to Linden McKinley STEM Academy at 7:25 a.m. for a meeting with a school administrator when a fight broke out in the school’s lunchroom involving Craine’s daughter, Tameira Fonseca.

Police said while Craine, 40, urged Fonseca to fight the other student, Craine’s goddaughter, Ka’nautika Pickens, struck administrator Aneesa Locke-Hines.

The school’s resource officer could not control the crowd and called for additional officers to assist while using Mace to arrest Craine, according to police.

Craine and Fonseca were charged with assault and Craine taken into custody, police said, while Pickens was charged with felonious assault.

Fonseca and Pickens were released to a relative while awaiting direction from the Coutr of Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court, police said.

Additional police personnel rmained at the school to supervise dismissal.
