COLUMBUS, Ohio – A 20-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were recovering in the hospital after being hit by a car on the West Side late Thursday night.
Ashley McCauslin had left the McDonald’s restaurant on W. Broad Street near the intersection with Florence Avenue just after 10:10 p.m. and was pushing her son in a stroller across W. Broad Street toward the bus stop located on the south side of the street when they were hit by an eastbound Honda Accord driven by Guillermo Vazquez, 19, of Grove City, Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott said.
Scott says the accident happened about 130 feet away from the nearest “marked and operable” crosswalk and is still under investigation.
The boy was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by Columbus Medics and remains in serious condition. McCauslin was listed in stable condition at Mt. Carmel West Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
