COLUMBUS, Ohio – Central Ohio is under a slight risk for severe weather Monday afternoon and evening, a day after strong storms knocked over vehicles and injured one person.
Forecasters say Monday’s storms (above) could produce large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. The storms will precede a significant cooling-off (see below).

Authorities say one man was injured when a wind gust of 75 mph overturned recreational vehicles at a Fayette County campground. The National Weather Service says he was in an RV that flipped several times in the straight-line winds that ripped through the Walnut Lake campground in Jeffersonville Sunday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital but is expected to be all right.
Authorities also closed I-71 because of downed power lines and trees near the interchange with Route 41in that area. Traffic backed up for miles as crews cleared the highway.
After the storms came threats of flooding. The Weather Service says a driver had to be rescued after driving into high water on Rankin Road in Licking County Sunday night.
