Mosquito spraying targets North Side, Dublin

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The ongoing battle against the West Nile virus moves to the North and Northeast sides of Columbus this week.

Columbus Public Health crews will be spraying during the early-morning hours (4:00-7:00 a.m.) in five neighborhoods.

After traps confirmed high mosquito numbers in the east sections of Dublin, Franklin County Public Health scheduled spraying Thursday evening in areas east and south of I-270. The operations are scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m.

On Wednesday they treated an area of the Far North Side bounded by Lazelle Road, Worthington Galena Road, Park Road and Sancus Boulevard and in the Near North Side/University area between Chittenden and E. 5th Ave Avenues and between N. Grant Avenue and N. High Street.

The following areas will be treated on Thursday: Milo Grogan south of E. 11TH Avenue, west of Woodland Avenue, north of I-670 and east of Fields Avenue.

Friday: Northeast Columbus – Boundaries: E. Dublin Granville Road, I-270, Morse Road and Cleveland Avenue.
East Columbus – Boundaries:: Mock Road, Sunbury Road, I-670 and Joyce Avenue.

Areas targeted for spraying are determined by mosquito trap results and reports from field staff, the number and type of mosquitoes trapped, the number of infected mosquitoes and evidence of human disease.
