Mud Hens 2, Clippers 1

COLUMBUS – Ryan Carpenter handcuffed the Clippers, giving up five hits while fanning 10 batters on the way to a 2-1 win Monday night in the opening game of a four-game series at Fifth Third Field.

The two runs the Mud Hens scored in the bottom of the 6th inning were all Carpenter (1-3) and two relievers needed.

Eric Haase’s RBI single to center field in the top of the inning provided the Clippers’ only run of the game.

Starter Adam Wilk (1-2) took the loss for Columbus.
