COLUMBUS – Zach Walters and Tyler Naquin had good days at the plate for the Clippers, but Toledo’s ninth-inning rally was the difference as the Mud Hens took the rubber match of a three-game series at Huntington Park Monday by a 3-2 score.
Walters was 3-for-3 with a walk and a line drive single to center field that scored Erik Gonzalez with the run that got the Clippers on the board. Naquin went 2-for-4 with a home run that tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth.
Will Roberts gave up the first two Mud Hens runs during his six innings on the mound, but Carlos Marmol (1-1) gave up the winning run in the ninth, an RBI single by Trayvon Robinson that brought home Alexi Casilla.
The two teams play three games in Toledo, starting Tuesday.
