COLUMBUS – The Toledo Mud Hens ran roughshod over the Clippers Thursday night, en route to an 8-1 win at Huntington Park.
The offensive deluge was highlighted by a four-hit, six-RBI night from Chad Huffman and six scoreless innings of pitching by Chad Bell.
Huffman followed up a Steven Moya single with a two-run home run for his 14th of the season to put the Hens up 2-0 in the 1st inning.
In the 3rd, Huffman blasted a three-run moon shot for his second home run of the game to put Toledo up 6-0.
Bell earned his 10th win of the season, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out six over six innings.
A Jesus Aguilar solo home run in the 8th inning accounted for the Clippers’ only run.
The teams play game two of the three-game series Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
