COLUMBUS – The Mud Hens plated six runs in the fourth inning Tuesday on the way to a 9-4 win over the Clippers in the opening game of a six-game series at Huntington Park.
After reliever Kyle Nelson (0-1) walked in the tying run, Zack Short brought in the run that gave Toledo a 3-2 lead with a soft fly into center field.
Jon Rossoff and Renato Nunez each contributed two-run base hits during the inning.
Trenton Brooks hit a two-run home run and Nolan Jones hit a solo homer for the Clippers.
Ricardo Pinto (7-1) kept the Clippers in check through six innings to get the win for the Mud Hens.
