Mud Hens sweep Clippers

COLUMBUS – A six-run 6th inning powered the Mud Hens to an 8-4 win Thursday night at Fifth Third Field and a four-game sweep of the Clippers.

Columbus jumped out to a 3-0 lead, thanks to home runs by Brandon Barnes and Richie Shaffer during each of the first two innings, before Toledo closed the margin to 3-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th when the Mud Hens jumped all over reliever Jordan Milbrath (1-2), scoring six runs on six hits, including a bases-loaded double by Ronny Rodriguez and a two-run single by Jason Krizan.

Phillippe Aumont (1-0) was the beneficiary of all that offense, picking up his first win of the season for the International League West-leading Mud Hens.

The Clippers now head to Indianapolis for three games against the second-place Indians.
