COLUMBUS – Columbus police have charged an 18-year-old man with murder for allegedly running down a man at a West Side intersection on Christmas night 2015.
The charge was filed Saturday against Emory “Tommy” Clay in the death of Houng Lamngeun, who was found at the intersection of Whitehead Road and S. Richardson Avenue shortly before 10:15 p.m. Dec. 25, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
Officer called to the scene on a reported hit-skip accident found Houng critically injured, Strayer said. From what they learned from witnesses, investigators decided the actions of the driver were “purposeful and malicious.”
Houng died at Mt. Carmel West Hospital early on the morning of the 26th, said Strayer.
lay was already in the Franklin County Jail on an unrelated incident when the murder charge was filed.
Houng’s death was the 95th Homicide of 2015 in Columbus.
